What is simple Lasik procedure?
The glass prescription consists of spherical and cylindrical numbers. This glass prescription number and few other datas e.g. Corneal thickness are fed into the computer. Depending on the computer feed backs the laser beam reshapes the cornea to correct the refractive error.

How is C-Lasik better than the simple Lasik procedure?
Simple Lasik procedure corrects only the spherical and cylindrical errors. In addition to these errors there are other errors and imperfections in the optical system of the eye. These errors are measured, and computerized data is produced by a special machine called OPD scan (measures 1440 points of irregularities highest by any available measuring device). If this data is fed into the machine laser beam corrects spectacle error and these additional errors. So the final visual outcome is much better than simple lasik procedure. A normal eye can see up to 6/4 where it was seeing only 6/6 (100%) with spectacles. This would offer individualized and customized vision solution for patients.

Am I the right candidate for C-Lasik?
Before undergoing Lasik surgery, whether simple or C-Lasik, a few tests are performed. It is important to measure the corneal thickness (Pachymetery) and OPD scan (measurement of spherical, cylindrical and other optical errors of the eye). Depending on these investigations, your doctor decides your fitness for C-lasik procedure. If you are above 18 years of age and you have not had a significant change in your prescribed power of spectacles during the last 12 months, then you are a fit candidate to undergo the above-mentioned tests and the Lasik procedure.

How is the C-Lasik procedure performed?
The flap of cornea is raised by a special machine (keratome) under Topical anaesthesia (just drops). The laser is performed and the flap is repositioned after the procedure. No bandage or injection is required. The total procedure takes less than 7-8 minutes for each eye.

Is it safe?
Yes, if all the tests are done properly, and the surgeon is reasonably experienced.

How long is the recovery period?
The patient is asked to be indoors for about a day. He can resume his normal activities in about two days. However, this recovery period may vary from patient to patient.
