  Oculoplastic Surgery

What does oculoplastic surgery mean?
Lust as important as the eye itself are the structures that support and protect the eye the eyelids, the socket, the soft tissues that surround the eyes and the tear system that keeps the eyes mist and drain them into the nose.
These structures can be affected by injuries, infections, tumours, by birth or by problems related to aging.

Oculoplastic surgery is the cosmetic, corrective and reconstructive surgery of these structure  to treat a broad rang of conditions, some of which are discussed below :

PTOSIS…is a drooping of the upper eyelid of one or both the eyes.It can be present either by birth or the result of an injury or due to again. It not only affects the appearance but also interface with the  patient’s vision who has to keep his eyebrows lifted all the time to open up the eyes. When present in one eye by birth, it can seriously impair vision of the child and lead to a ‘lazy eye’ if not treated early

----ENTROPION---(turning in the eyelid)
----ECTROPION---(turning out of the eyelid margin)
These are eyelid malpositions which occur as a result of aging or injury in entropion, eyelashes and skin rub against the cornea, causing severe irritation, redness and pain. If untreated, it can cause an eye ulcer, abrasions or opacities on the cornea and threaten vision.
The outward turning of the margin of the eyelid (ectropion) causes excessive watering, eye irritation and discharge from the eyes.
These conditions are successfully treated by corrective surgery witch involves rotating the lid margin to a normal position and tightening the muscles. This surgery is performed under local anasethesia in an outpatient setting
Scars and deformities of the eyelids due to burn, chemical injuries or accidents like coloboma, notching, post burn contracture.

COSMETIC SURGERY

Eyes are the first features on the face to show sing of aging.
The eyelid area can be rejuvenated by various surgical and non surgical procedures to make you look younger and better. We offer the following cosmetic procedures to make your eyes look better and more youthful.

….Blepharoplasty (also known as an eyelift)……
For under – eye bags and excessive loose skin of the upper eyelids.
The skin and muscles around the eyes have a tense tone  in youth. Age and other factors can let the muscles sag fat bulge giving rise to baggy eyelids or dermatochalasis.

Blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery designed to remove the excess fat along with skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. This procedure will brighten the face & restore more youthful

appearance. In some patients, it will improve vision by removing the excess skin of the upper lid witch hangs down and obstructs vision from above.
